Zimbabwe as only
few will ever see it

What we do

Intimate journeys
through a land few
have truly seen

Mwena offers carefully considered, tailored journeys through one of Africa's most extraordinary and underappreciated countries. Each itinerary is built on deep local knowledge, trusted relationships, and an unwavering commitment to showing you the real Zimbabwe.

Every trip is shaped around several destinations, chosen together with you based on your every need. From thundering waterfalls to silent riverbanks, every moment is chosen with intention. We travel in small private groups, move slowly, and leave room for the unexpected.

The experience

The world you'll step into

Zimbabwe is not the easiest country to reach, and that is precisely what protects it. For those who make the journey, the rewards are remarkable: an extraordinary range of experiences across landscapes that still feel genuinely wild. The trips we design are built around the experiences below, shaped to what matters most to you.

A journey shaped around you and your group

Every trip is unique and tailored to your needs. We take care of everything from the moment you arrive to the day you depart. Our goal is to tick off some of your bucket list items and provide an experience you will treasure for the rest of your life.

FAQ

What size group is this for?
Our base journeys are organised for four to seven people in total, including children. Adaptations are possible on demand — tell us what you have in mind on the enquiry form.
Are children welcome?
Yes. Some activities have minimum age limits, such as walking safaris in certain national parks. Put the children's ages on the enquiry form and we will plan the itinerary around them.
Is Zimbabwe safe to visit?
Yes. The country has a complicated political history but day to day it's one of the most welcoming places in southern Africa. Your local guide will support you throughout your entire journey and is well placed to handle any situation that may arise.
What about vaccinations and health prep?
Consult your local doctor around eight weeks before you travel. Typical recommendations are yellow fever (if you're coming from a country where it's present), hepatitis A and B, typhoid, and malaria tablets. We'll send a health note once you book.
When's the best time to go?
Zimbabwe is a wonderful destination all year round. The high season runs from May to October: it is dry, the days are warm and the nights cool, and wildlife concentrates around the remaining water, which makes it the easiest time to see big game. The low season, from November to April, brings green landscapes, dramatic skies, fewer travellers, and excellent prices on the best camps. Each season has its own quiet pleasures, and we will help you choose the one that fits you best.
How much can I tailor this trip to my needs?
As much as you would like. Every Mwena journey is built around you. If there is something specific you want to do or discover in Zimbabwe, tell us on the enquiry form and we will do everything we can to incorporate it: birdwatching, photography focus, fishing, a specific community visit, a particular species you have always wanted to see. The trip is yours to shape.
